iEmergent Forecasts Weak Production Volume in 2010 - November 15
Mortgage Banking magazine, November, 2009 - Briefing Book - A new preliminary mortgage volume forecast, released in early September from iEmergent says 2010 will be pretty dismal. The group's preliminary forecast for total origination volume in 2010 is within a range of $1.17 trillion to $1.28 trillion. The company breaks its forecast down further for a purchase forecast of $602 billion or 3.8 million loans. iEmergent founder Dennis Hedlund warns lenders, "Don't be fooled by the heavy investor buying and 'unprecedented' first-time buyer activity. They have masked the underlying weakness and instability of local mortgage markets."
